How to Ride
GETTING STARTED
After you’ve read the assembly manual and put together the Snowmoto, you will be itching to ride. The next couple of pages will get you ready.
BACKHILLS RULE
Resorts are the bomb, and nobody wants to hike all the time, but backhills can be just as fun. A sledding hill, golf course, powder run, or even a steep snowy driveway can be ideal to break in your Snowmoto. Practice skating, turning, little jumps--you’ll be a lot more confident when you show up at a resort. If you’re like us, you’ll probably keep returning to the backhill every chance you get. There’s something amazing about shoveling your own jumps, finding your own run, and sessioning it all day (or even all night) with a few buddies.
WHY CARRY WHEN YOU CAN PUSH?
When you’re sessioning a backhill, or any time you need to travel uphill or a flat section, remember that you can usually push a Snowmoto by the handlebars--you don’t need to carry it. You’ll save a lot of energy, which you can use to boost bigger airs. On flat sections at the resorts, skate the snowmoto--just keep one foot on the platform and push with the other. You’ll enjoy blazing past your snowboard buddies who are floundering. You can also run or skate with the Snowmoto to get up more speed, and then hop on. You will love the fact that your feet are not trapped in bindings or straps.
LEASH
The leash is a good thing, and you should use it. It will prevent the Snowmoto from running away or hitting somebody else. You’ll need to wear it all the time at a resort.
RESORTS
Resorts are still figuring out how to deal with us. Some are super-cool and open, others allow limited access, many still need to be enlightened. Check on the web for listings of friendly areas, but also call ahead (if the person on the phone is clueless, ask to talk to Mountain Operations). Be polite, educate resort employees, and be cool on the hill--let’s open up the whole world.
LEASH

Place the leash around your “front” leg - the one that will stay on the platform while you are skating to the lift.
LOAD

Hold the Snowmoto to your side, slide the seat boom over the seat and sit down.
GO

Set the Snowmoto down on the ramp, put one foot on the platform, push off and go.
